Of course Im missing the meg. but we still have lots of water over here and im getting out on it every weekend. Its just that im in a big boucy thing now instead of on a board :P
the uk's all a bit wierd, starting to find work back in the industry and getting some quals under my belt. Missing paradise heaps though so returning is always gunna be in the back of my mind. Missing mother K and the crew and just everything man. A visit will definately be on the cards, or hopefully i'll be leading an expedition out there and being paid to drop in!! HA!
Booked into do my ML later this month and i think i've manage to blag my way onto a course with TYF in south wales gettting surfing, beach life guard climbing and paddling quals as well as in house coasteering training. course usually costs 5 grand so pretty chuffed if that works out. Also working (hopefully) leading expeditions after i get signed off my ML. It's all go i tell thee. Working for go ape and blacks outdoors shop right now. gay!
Not sure if you've run Nevis before your run on video, but props regardless. I like watching someone fire up difficult water and look confident while doing it.
Bummer that you won't be around NC during the Tuck Fest races, however, there is a nice creeking run in western, NC that has a release on Saturday April 6th. It's about a 4 hour drive from Charlotte, but a good piece of water. You can check it out here:
We normally don't run the upper 7 miles because it is bony, choked full of trees and bushes ( due to the river bed being de-watered for over 75 years), and only has a few good rapids. We put in around mile 7 at the Forest Service bridge and run the final two miles where it's steep and clear of bushes - doing laps on this stretch to our hearts' content.
I wouldn't recommend taking a bodyboard down the Cheoah. It is definitely pure creeking. I have an old plastic riverboard that you could borrow if you decide to do it.
Hey Kevin. Just wanted to say thank you for the invite to come boarding with you guys tomorrow. Unfortunately I'll have to give it a miss this time, as I am going to the USNWC tomorrow to hopefully get myself a job. Fingers crossed we will be living down here soon, and I will get many chances to get out on the river with you. Thanks again. Twig.
