Boise Whitewater Festival

Anyone heading to the Boise Whitewater Festival this weekend? I'd like to compete and we need 3 riverboarders to make a class. The staircase race is on Saturday and I'll be there with a couple boards. I'll be around all weekend long. Hope to see you there!!!See More

Hi Liz. Sweet as. If you do make it to Queenstown before Christmas I'm sure we'll have quite a few guides each day happy to show you around the local spots. From Boxing day we get pretty busy, but everyone's normally pretty keen even on days off!

Hi Liz,
Extra guides are always welcome, expecially if you are here a bit before Christmas. As we normally train guides from scratch, I don't really know how long it would take to get you up to speed, but would be guessing it should be less than a month.
We get busy from around Christmas day til the end of February, so it's pretty much all hands on deck, whereas up til that point there's a bit of sitting around.
By next season NZs new commercial guiding certificate will be in place, so it'll be a case of getting you passed through this.
You would need to learn the river and guiding techniques we use etc, as I'm sure your skill level will be fine for the grade III we operate on.
Having said that, I also need to look after my full time staff who are here from the start of the season to the finish, so can't guarantee anything.
A work visa does come in handy, expecially if you want to pick up a bit of work in a bar or restaurant or something at night for some spare drinking money! but aren't necessarily essential!
Cars are usually easy enough to pick up once you get here, you can get something usable for a few hundred dollars US.
Let me know if you want to get sorted as a guide and I'll see how things pan out at this end as we get to sorting next seasons roster.
