I went home to Orange County this past weekend and got lucky with a nice NW swell so we went bodyboarding at Newport Beach. I used my regular bodyboard, and the Kern Riverboard.

Facefirst Kiteboarding
Over a year ago, I tried getting dragged around on a bodyboard with my 3.4 Meter foil kite at the surf at Sunset Beach, which wasn't too thrilling, due to lack of power.
Since I went kitesurfing yesterday and had a personal photographer with me (Dad!), I decided to try out my Kern Riverboard, this time with a full-size 12 Meter kite, in 20 mph winds.

Costa Rica Day 4
We're in Turrialba right now after a few days spent in Dominical on the Pacific Coast. We have only ran 1 section of river which was "El Chorro" just outside of Quepos. I portaged two rapids that had some sketchy undercuts, but regret it now. El Chorro Rapid was a really fun chute. Today we are going to hit a river just outside of Turrialba, followed by another 4 days of whitewater, and possibly a surf trip to the Carribean coast.

- more than just riverboarders, the goal is to be a social network for all face level sports, which will be sweet! we'll start inviting people in a week or two, working on the integration with the main site first. so for now it's just us.

ianriverboarder said… - Out of all the riverboards made in the states, i would have to say that Kern riverboards interest me the most. They are exactly what i have been looking for in terms of running high volume grade 6 rapids. Higher floatation, handles and above all the same performance as a bodyboard. For me i have to have a board with a solid , flat slick!! Its easier dealing with the currents cause you can feel them working under you!! I really hope to have you apart of the African Expo, and get to try one of your boards!! Cheers IAN

I will be boarding the Upper Gauley on Saturday, and I'm looking for someone to run shuttle / board with. Anyone that is interested, hit me up 304-582-2568.
Friday and Saturday Lower G for me possibly unless I end up on the New Saturday with Kevin and he thinks I can handle whatever he wants to run that day.
Kevin is leading the pack on a run down the Lower G on Friday. I'm up for a rinse and repeat on Saturday since I'm not doing the full Upper until I've got my master's degree in riverboarding.
What days will you actually be able to board? I could make it for a Sat trip if we can a group together (upper or lower)...anyone in for Sat???

SF American River Festival at American River, South Fork

Our Riverboarding community has been invited to be a part of the SF American River Festival, Sept 10th thru Sept 12th, 2010.
