The spring river season is quickly approaching. Anybody interested in making March/April plans? Actually my March is pretty well booked, but that shouldn't stop other people from making plans. I'm hoping to have an active April and get out on some rivers I have not been on before (washougal, lewis, wilson, klickitat, etc.). Anybody want to start getting some dates on the calendar?

Joe are you going to Upper Clack? Have ideas for some runs in the area?

Joe, in regards to your message. Yes. It is different. The boof flake has moved over and down changing the drop into the falls. Also, the falls are very sticky. It's still high right now. I would suggest watching some people run it and judging whether or not it's good or not. If it's still above 3 ft. I would think a little longer about it.
Watch out for the left side of the falls. It was recirculating rafting guests up to 45 seconds last year. Rafts are still not commercially running it yet this year. Keep that in mind.
Just be careful :)

I ended up not running the middle. but it looked really filled in (less of a drop). I'll ask my friend who did run it if he thought it was sticky at 2.75.

So my kayaking friend said it is a lot stickier with a 'mandatory boof'. I know it's hard to boof on riverboards so maybe just keep your speed up as much as possible? but yeah Liz's idea to watch someone would be good. The rafts were going around it.

I appreciate the feedback, exactly what I wanted to know. I probably won't run it, but if the level is right, who knows...either way I will post the trip report afterwards

Farmlands was in really good shape if you put in at Sidewinder, with one wood portage about mid way through.

Ran the middle White on Sunday morning. The gauge was at 3.0 feet (sources on the internet indicated 4.0). Everthing was in great shape, and at a good level. A little bit of wood but nothing that isn't easily avoided. I hit Corkscrew a little too far to the right and got recirculated in the (rather large) hole at the bottom, but just once before I got spit out. After the initial approach try and move to the center to avoid the meaty part of the hole. The river was pretty pushy but not unreasonable. We didn't run Husum as the water level was too high, but it looked quite different from the last time I ran it, but that might have been because of the water level. It looked pretty sticky. Incredibly gorgeous day, followed by and overcast and chilly bbq in PDX.

There will be lots of people down there this weekend too. Might come up a bit with the heat.
