Forward motion, headfirst & horizontal to gravity!
Getting Started......ugh!
I have waited two years ( retirement) to get started with riverboarding and now that the time is here, the sport is hard to find. I'm in So Cal so I knew travel was going to be required, but I keep running into "we don't do that anymore" or "we don't do that until October". Needless to say my best plans were not very good. Right now the closest riverboarding site (active) is in Oregon (Warm Springs). This is frustrating to say the least. So, what's the score? Do I wait till October and try then on the American River, or go after another location/guide? I would appreciate some help. Thank you.

Hey, actually the Kern River is about 3 hours away from Orange County and Los Angeles! Contact me and I'll set you up with a trip! We have great, beginner-friendly, warm water till late August!

If you're on the East Coast below the Mason Dixon line, close to it, or coming into the area to board, connect with other boarders. For riverboardering, airboarding at Canaan, and whatever else you do at face level. Mid-Atlantics are welcome too.

I saw part of the movie premier "Haymakers" http://www.kayaksession.com/video186.php this weekend in Hood River and they showed the video footage of this. Turns out the kayaker I was with helped film. The lead-in is a maybe 4' wide slide.
