Event Description

The Cheoah has a couple of releases per year and since work has kept me out of the river this season, I'm itching to get back in the water.

The Cheoah is a great class IV run. I don't run the entire river as the upper section is choked full of trees and root balls. I stick with the final two miles where it is more open and the gradient is higher. Most of the lower section is continuous boulder drops and the two miles drop at 106 and 141.

Meet at the take out and then we'll shuttle up to above Bear Creek Falls, scout that drop and then get in and go. After the first lap, I'm willing to do a second lap if anyone else wants to. The release goes until 5:00 pm

I will give you a call if I decide to head down there.

Comment by Kevin Yount on May 4, 2011 at 10:31pm: Cool Jusbyn. Let them know that we boarders only run the bottom 2 miles. They can do what they want to though. We probably eddy out a lot less often than they do unless they aren't typical kayakers.

Comment by Jusbyn on May 10, 2011 at 1:13am: The guy riding with me will do the bottom 2 miles. I don't want to do God's Dam...it has a huge strainer in it...someone was airlifted out during the last run. Ill call you Friday about meeting up...where and when.
